WHAT IS A TELECLASS AND FAQ



A teleclass is a workshop that takes place over the phone. That means you can be located anywhere in the world, and you don't have to deal with travel, traffic, parking, what to wear...And after the call you can go right back to what you were doing before.

It usually consists of a mix of lecture, questions and some interactive discussion.


How do I join in?

You dial a phone number and enter a code. You will get both by email when you sign up for the program. Please note that long distance charges from your provider might apply.


I don't live in North America. Can I still call in to the teleclass?

Absolutely. You can call from every part of the world. Just remember to dial the international access code first (001). Again long distance charges might apply, but you can use Skype instead.


What do I need for the teleclass?

You might want to take notes, and maybe have some water around.


What if I sign up and then can't make the call?

In most cases calls are recorded and I'll send you a link so you can listen to the recording later. However, I highly recommend you attend the class to make the most of it, if not you won't be able to make questions.


What if I don't want to be recorded?

Sorry, recordings go to everyone who sign up for the class.


Why am I asked to record my name when I call? What if I don't want to?

You don't have to "record your name for announcement to the call organizer", even though you'll be asked to. Just wait until she's done asking, then hit the # sign again to enter the call.


HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TELECLASS

  • Let us know who you are. Make sure you say your name before speaking so we'll know who's speaking.

  • If you have any background noise at home please keep muted (press *6), even sounds that seem really quiet to you (chewing, typing, drinking a glass of water, whispering) end up being really loud to everyone else on the call. Of course unmute yourself (press *6 again) whenever you want to participate.

  • Feel free to make questions and comments and be brief, we want everyone to be able to participate.

  • Technical issues: sometimes they happen.

    • You're calling on Skype and can't get unmuted. People who call in on Skype have found that they sometimes have to hold the buttons a little longer than usual to get it to work. And if it doesn't work, try again.

    • Sometimes you call in and just get a less-than-great connection (static, echo). Try hanging up and dialing in again. If it's still not great, you might want to try dialing in from an alternate line (try a cell phone, a landline, or Skype). And yes, it might happen to me too. In the (hopefully unlikely) case I can't connect with you I will immediately send an email to reschedule the class.

  • You have to call in late or leave early. No problem. If you leave early, you'll be able to catch whatever you missed when we send out the recording.
